I wish that this post was witty and full of wondrous amounts of insight, however, quite frankly, I’m just too tired. My parents arrived yesterday in time to drive with us to my son’s daycare for his Christmas party. They’ve never seen it before and my son got to show off. Everyone, son included, went to bed late and he decided that it was a good idea to wake up at 4:30 in the morning. It might have been the two cookies and the piece of cake that he had before dinner. Yes, I said before dinner.

This morning, we got up and got ready to go to our adoption agency party. It was an hour drive in the car with my parents and we met my husband’s parent at the party. Tyler’s plane-mate, C, was there with her parents. She is a doll and she looked adorable in her little purple dress. (I’ll try to post a picture later.) For some reason, the party exhausted me (probably the 4:30am wake-up call).

We came back and I got ready for my son’s birthday party. It was just the two sets of grandparents, but I had to cook. I hate cooking. By the time I was done, I was even more exhausted than when I started. His new bed is up and it’s a loft. It’s definitely a guy thing, because both grandmothers are a little unsure about it. I think he’ll be fine. He’s a little monkey.

After dinner came presents and more cake. He really enjoyed presents, but I’m not sure that he really looked at anything that came out of the wrapping paper. Most of his focus was on the little blue Korean police car that we bought at the adoption agency party. He did get Polar Express, which he loves, so everyone had to watch it tonight before they left or went to bed. Grandparents are so long suffering.

Anyhow, it’s late (very late) and I’m writing this post so that you know that I did not fall off the face of the earth this week-end. I’m just exhausted. Tomorrow, I have to drive to Toledo to have lunch with sister and her boyfriend and then I get to relax for about four hours before I reenter the social whirl that is the holiday season. I am guessing that I should be a babbling idiot by December 24th, but it might be several days earlier.

By the way both of our parties had Santa and both times my son refused to approach the throne. No Santa picture this year.
