Awhile ago, I wrote about a young man who was trying to adopt two older children in Korea. It fascinated me – first, because he was actually in Korea trying to complete the adoption and, second, because he was a single man who wanted to adopt two boys.

So, for those of you who were as fascinated as me, here is an update. He has one of the boys home with him now and he is muddling through the new parent issues. Though things were rough at the beginning, things are starting to work themselves out. He hopes to bring the other boy home too, but there have been complications.

I really hope that everything works out. Shawn caught my attention because he was working so hard to find a way to bring these children into his home. He kept my attention because he didn’t give up. Perhaps, this is a reminder to all of us not to give up because things seem impossible – possible things are happening every day.

  1. From what I got off the forums, it sounds like he’s going to have a very hard time bringing the boys to the States, and he took a number of hits on his lack of planning.
Although there are many who applaud all the obstacles to adoption, and perhaps even in this case they’re a good thing, I’m with you on hoping this ends up being a happy story.
People need to know, however, that falling in love with a child during a temporary stay abroad may not end up well. There is SO much more to adopting, and if your home is in the US, SO SO much more.

  2. Amazing site…

I really liked your blog, thanks for sharing this useful information……
