Simple Gifts: Holiday Cards

Two of my aunts sent my son cards that were only for him. I’m awed by the pure joy that he expressed at receiving them. “My cards?” He asked. When I assured him that they were his, he carried them around for the rest of the night.

I enjoy holiday cards. I receive information from people that I don’t see very often. There are pictures of children with new outfits and smiles on their faces. They are happy and full of good wishes. Some come with stories of the past year and others are simply signed by the people we know.

On this one, I’m going to pass on some of my own thoughts. The below link is to my other blog and a rather rambling post about why I avoid reading some other Korean adoptees’ blogs, articles, books, etc… It took me awhile to figure it out. I’m not sure where my epiphany will lead me…but it will be an interesting trip.

I found this site about a Korean adoptee who received a kidney from a stranger. It’s actually about the woman who donated the kidney and it brings forward all of my concerns about being a Korean adoptee is a primarily non-Korean environment.

This article is about a U.S. congressman (Earl Pomeroy) that was written by a Korean paper. It’s interesting because it is about this North Dakota representative’s opinion on Korean adoption. Pomeroy is the father of two Korean adoptees so it puts him in a rather unique position to talk about it.
