May 25th will be my last day blogging for adoptionblogs.com. I’m a little sad about that. I’ve been blogging here for one year and three months, but I needed to move on. Writing here has really helped to open my eyes to Korean adoption because it has forced me to branch out and explore new areas. Comments from readers have led me to new areas and new opinions.
It serves as a reminder that Korean adoption as a whole is a huge concept. You have to look at all sides – birth parents, adoptive parents, and adoptees – and realize that you just can’t know everything. The more egotistical side of me has often assumed that I know more than the average bear about Korean adoption – after all I’m both an adoptee and the parent of an adoptee. I’ve lived two out the three sides of the triangle.
The more I delved into the personal blogs of other adoptees, adoptive parents and birth parents, the more I realized that I am just a small part of the picture. Most of the world lately seems to revolve around the question “What does it matter to me?” No matter how many people tell me that they are not selfish and that everything isn’t always about “ME,” let’s be truthful. When someone says something, don’t we usually wonder how it will affect our lives? I don’t think this is a bad thing. Personally, I’ve always been an advocate of a little selfish behavior. I think it’s good for us to worry about “me” every once in awhile. However, sometimes you have to branch out in order to find the real “me” under the layers.

Above and beyond everything else, one of the things that I hope I’ve been able to pass on is that there are so many different parts of the picture. As parts of the Korean adoption process, whether we are the adoptee, the parent or the birth parent, we need to constantly remember that there are always different feelings, stories, and experiences that we can learn from.
I have every expectation that adoptionblogs will find a new Korea Adoption blogger that will be able to give you a new perspective on the process. If you’re interested, please check out the
Editor’s blog. I will still be here until May 25th and I hope that you choose come visit me at my
personal blog as well.
