So, I watched a new sitcom on Wednesday called “The Loop” on FOX. It’s all about growing up – that huge leap from college to the real world. Of course, it’s a sitcom, so the leap is a little longer than real life.

I’m really not a huge sitcom watcher, but I did tune in to this one so that I could watch Joy Osmanski. Yep, I really meant to say Joy Osmanski and not Mimi Rogers (who I also enjoy). Joy is a Korean adoptee who was raised in Olympia, Washington. She married and moved to San Francisco where she started her theater career. Now she’s playing an MIT graduate who is an over qualified assistant to the new young executive. I was a little disappointed at how small her part was in this first episode, but it was only the first episode. Here are some links to some information about Joy:

I really can’t tell you if the show is going to fly. I’ve discovered I have pretty bad luck with predictions. Lately, it seems that if I like it, it gets canceled. I thought that was a funny way to put it, but I did some research and there really are quite a few Korean actors out there right now. So far, Joy is the only Korean adoptee actor I’ve heard about, but I’m still looking. It’s nice to see Korean faces (or Asian faces) on the television.

When I was younger, I was always on the lookout for Asian faces on television. We really didn’t see them very often and if they were on television, it was pretty rare for them to play more than a token role. I hope this trend continues. It would be nice if my son could see faces like his...

There are 2 Korean actors on "Lost" (an ABC show), Daniel Dae Kim and Yunjin Kim. They speak Korean on the show. And Sandra Oh is on "Grey's Anatomy" on ABC as well. I've seen a few other Korean actors, but can't remember where.
