It’s Official – We’re Saving To Adopt Baby #2

So, it’s official. My husband and I talked about our next adoption and we’re changing our time table a little. Having two mortgages for seven months played havoc with our saving schedule and we have many home projects that we were planning on finishing before we started seriously saving for our second adoption. We’ve decided to put aside several of the larger projects in favor of starting to save now.

We’ve been watching the uncertainties in the Korean program and these new rules are making us a little nervous. Even though we are starting to save now, most likely we won’t be ready to start the process until early 2008. My husband keeps reminding me that we have to be prepared for the possibility that we will not be able to adopt from Korea in 2008.

The logical part of me knows this and I’ve even written about it, but the emotional part of me can’t quite grasp the concept. My husband asked me what countries I would like to consider and I rattled off a whole bunch of countries that we have to choose from, but I couldn’t select one that I was most comfortable with. I was nine when I decided that I wanted my children to be adopted from Korea and now I have to fight twenty-two years of expectation.

We could borrow the money for the adoption and make it happen more quickly, but we don’t like debt and we’ve made it our personal goal to limit debt in our lives. My philosophy is that when we are ready all the pieces will fall into place and what is supposed to happen will happen. Admittedly, sometimes I feel like challenging my philosophy, but it’s always worked for me in the past so I try to stay strong. So, for now, I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Even if the program does close, there is the possibility that they will make exceptions for Korean adoptees. I can only hope.

So now I have two years of mega saving in my future. We’re going back to the days before my son came where we paid bills, bought food, put gas in our cars and stayed at home. Thank goodness there are a lot of FREE things to do with children and that my son is pretty easy to please.

Congratulations, Mo. I hope your savings collect quickly and that your process goes smoothly.

You will end up with YOUR child, no matter what or where.

http://www.adoption-infant.net An adopted baby can take some characteristics from its adopted parents, studies have shown that the longer you are around someone the more you tend to act like them and favor them. Children adoption will of course begin taking characteristics of their adopted parents once they have been about them for some time. After trying unsuccessfully for years, a lot of couples decide to look into infant adoption. Elboydny
