On the Korean Adoption forum, someone asked what size the babies were when they came home. What I learned was that the babies were all sizes and shapes when they arrived.

Before my son came, people were always asking me what size clothes they should buy. Some people expressed disappointment that I hadn’t put any clothes on his registry. The problem was that I didn’t want anyone to buy us clothes because I had no clue what size he was going to be when he arrived.
I arrived when I was almost six months, but I only weighed ten pounds. All of the six month clothes that my parents had bought were way too large. I needed to wear the newborn size. My son was right on target. He came at six months and he wore six month clothes.
I love buying clothes for new babies. It’s generally easy because I’m fairly sure that the babies will be small enough to wear 0-3 month clothes. Even when I don’t know if the baby will be a boy or a girl, I can fall back on yellow and green.
I was disappointed that I couldn’t buy lots and lots of clothes before he came, but to be honest I think I had more fun this way. Once I had him in my arms, I could really see what types of clothes I wanted him to wear.
So, when people ask me what size they should buy for their little ones, I have to say I don’t have a clue. Perhaps the best way to do it is to see what people decide to buy for you and then buy a couple of items in the size you don’t have – just enough to hold you until you can get out and buy more if you need to.
Lesson Learned: Babies come in all shapes and sizes.
Lesson Learned: Never assume anything – keep everything until for a little while. My son is 2 ½ and he is now wearing a size 2T shirt with size 12 month shorts. He is so trim in the waist that he literally steps out of the 2T shorts. I had given away all of his 12 month shorts and had to go buy new shorts.
Lesson Learned: Little girl clothes are much easier to find and much cuter. I love the little boy, but wish there was more of a selection.

I agree, there is hardly any selection for boys! I have found that Target and Old Navy have some of the best boy’s clothes.
