My life currently revolves around sports and I really don’t like sports. I am used to being bombarded by football this time of year. After thirteen years with my husband, how can I not be used to football. The funny thing is that, though I still complain like it’s brand new, I actually know a lot more about football than I’ll admit. I realize this when I’m sitting in a meeting full of men and I’m holding my own with the football talk. I still don’t like it.
I’ve yet to understand the reasoning behind watching every game that is being played. When I was in college at Eastern Michigan University, I was a huge Eagles fan. I went to all the games (rain, snow or shine) and screamed... more

I was browsing yesterday and someone recommended this site so I thought I'd check it out.

There are four sections:
1. The Counting Quiz - This section comes complete with sound. I have no ear for language so I can't tell you if it's good quality or not. I've tried and tried...
2. The Word Quiz - Okay, this part was fun. Who cares if the kids have fun right? This teaches you basic words and shows cool pictures. It also has... more
Recently, someone asked me some questions and I thought I’d share my answers with everyone.
"There are so many little ones around our area who've been adopted from China, and more than a few from Vietnam - with that number sure to increase now that Vietnam is open for adoptions again. With the rumors about Korea closing to foreign adoptions, I'm concerned about our child not having a community of kids like herself to be part of. As someone adopted internationally to the U.S. yourself, what is your perspective on this?"
I sometimes think... more
I am lucky in my in-laws. While some of my friends have nightmare in-laws, mine are rather mild and easy to get along with. My mother-in-law is always very worried about treating everyone equally and she does not want anyone to feel slighted. I honestly never worried about her treating my son differently than she does her other grandchildren. She is almost comical in her desire to make everyone happy.
My husband and I will laugh about it sometimes. At Christmas, if she sees something that my sister-in-law might like, she also will... more
I found this article in the Korean Times and thought it was interesting. A Korean Adoptee from the Netherlands who has made a documentary about adoption. It is a positive article about Korean adoption and it addresses one of the number one questions. “Who am I?”

Ultimately, isn’t that a question that we all ask (adopted or not)?
We used this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary – married eight years and together for thirteen years. It wasn’t the most romantic of evenings since we used half of it to shop for a bed for our son, but we did try a restaurant that we haven’t been to (because it did not look kid friendly). It is a really nice Chinese bistro restaurant – complete with dim lights and (gasp) table cloths.
When we unrolled our napkins, I saw chopsticks. I love chopsticks. My father taught me to use chopsticks when I was little. He learned how to use them sometime during the Vietnam War. I’m pretty proficient with them and I’ve always viewed them as a fun addition to my meal – something to... more

I had a pretty easy time – no outbursts, no hard questions, no tears… I stand by my belief that I have lived a charmed life and I am rather grateful for whatever plan led me down this path. But reality says that everyone will not have such an easy time. There are families who will be wary of a Korean adoption and there will be families who reject the whole premise. I get goose bumps just thinking of it.
Now, my grandparents... more
I was at a seminar all day about labor laws. Fun things like harassment claims, law suits, Supreme Court rulings, etc… It’s the way most people would like to spend their Thursdays.
It all started out okay. I dropped off my son (who actually cooperated this morning) and was driving towards my seminar and I was really struck by how beautiful everything looked. The trees are orange, red, yellow and a little bit green. I love Fall. I was married in October because I love the colors on the trees.
I arrived at the seminar location and it’s... more
On my other blog, I wrote about a memory that I had about the spirit of giving. One event shaped the way I thought about giving and caring.

The gift that my church gave was large in scale, but I realized early that it doesn’t have to be big. Sometimes, the little things help people out to. I have always liked to give at the holidays, but most charities will remind you that they need help every day of the year. If you can afford... more
This past week-end we traveled to Indiana to see my friend C and her family. I learned two very important things. First, I learned that I will never take a five hour trip in the car ever again without purchasing a portable DVD player. My son is just too young to understand five hours. Second, I learned that the trip down I-75 through Ohio is just as boring as the trip down the Ohio turnpike.
Other than that, once we got there…we had fun. There was plenty of football for my husband (tickets to see the Colts play the Titans), a backyard for my son and... more
