Well, if you’ve made your decision to adopt again or at least you can breath normally when you think about it, you also have decide about the agency that you are going to use.
For some, like us, it’s already set. We had a good experience with the agency that we chose for our son and we have no... more

Today is my son’s adoption day. We didn’t do much besides say, “Today is your adoption day.” It just wasn’t that big of a deal for us. It was fun to go the courthouse and get that official document, but it really only confirmed what we already knew. We were officially a family.
Perhaps if my son had been older and he understood what the day represented, my husband and I would have stronger memories of the day. As it was, my son thought it was just another part of the party called December. Then again, maybe we wouldn’t. I’m not one hundred percent... more
A lot of the adoption process is pure emotion, but we have to be practical too. Part of the decision has to be money.
One of the reasons that it took us awhile to decide to adopt again was money. I don’t like to think of money and adoption, but the bottom line is that Korean adoption fees are high and most likely getting higher in the new year. Deciding to adopt again means some changes and we’re going to have to give... more
Awhile back, I posted that my husband and I had decided to adopt again. The decision is not one that we made easily and it has not been without its ups and downs since.
Right after my son arrived from Korea, my husband and I started talking about adopting again. Whenever someone asked me if a second child was coming, I started hyperventilating and I looked a little green. I love my son, but the thought of two kids was almost... more
We are all sick in my household again. I think that I had a mild case of strep throat again and my husband (once again) has it full force with fever, chills, sore throat, etc… My son is fine. The doctor says that if we get it again after this round that we need to bring my son in. She says if we get it again, most likely, he’s the carrier.
Anyhow, I’m short on time…as usual…so I’m going to throw this article out at everyone. I found it in the KAAN newsletter.

Simple Gifts: Holiday Cards
Two of my aunts sent my son cards that were only for him. I’m awed by the pure joy that he expressed at receiving them. “My cards?” He asked. When I assured him that they were his, he carried them around for the rest of the night.
I enjoy holiday cards. I receive information from people that I don’t see very often. There are pictures of children with new outfits and smiles on their faces. They are happy and full of good wishes. Some come with stories of the past year and others are simply signed by the people we know.

This week-end we went to the adoption agency holiday party. One of the things that I love about the party is the bazaar. This year, I ended up buying a Korean doll, a Korean police car and a package of Korean coins. I’m not sure where I’m going to put the Korean doll and what I’m going to do with a package of Korean coins, but my son has yet to let go of the police car so that was a hit. My mother and my mother-in-law also did their fair share of shopping – especially my mother-in-law.
I walked up to her and she was browsing through some Korean books and coloring books. She asked me if my son had any and I told her that he only had the one. She started picking up books and... more
I wish that this post was witty and full of wondrous amounts of insight, however, quite frankly, I’m just too tired. My parents arrived yesterday in time to drive with us to my son’s daycare for his Christmas party. They’ve never seen it before and my son got to show off. Everyone, son included, went to bed late and he decided that it was a good idea to wake up at 4:30 in the morning. It might have been the two cookies and the piece of cake that he had before dinner. Yes, I said before dinner.
This morning, we got up and got ready to go to our adoption agency party. It was an hour drive in the car with my parents and we met my husband’s parent at the party. Tyler’s plane-mate,... more
There is probably no way to tell, but we might be able to find out if my son is related to Ghengis Khan.
We were coming home from IKEA. We had just bought my son his big boy bed for his birthday and I was listening to NPR. I rarely listen to NPR after I get home from work so I’d never heard Radio Lab before, but I found it fascinating. I listened to two stunning pieces, but this one struck me because there is a chance (though less of one in Korea) that we could be related to Ghengis Khan.
There was a team that was going to different areas and they were using DNA to study where people came from. From what I understand, DNA is always changing. However, there is a “Y” chromosome... more

This is a “kind of” book review because I know nothing about this series, but someone sent it to me so I thought I’d pass it on. One of the main characters of this series is Avery (a Korean adoptee). I played around on their site a little and it looks pretty neat - the kind of thing that I would have liked before I started seventh grade.
I was always pleased when I found an Asian character in my books, but to find... more
